- Battlefield Comms on X and the EA Forums (November 5, 2026); EA's Battlefield 6 news posts of October 9, October 21, November 2 and November 3
Just over two weeks before the delay, EA was still writing that Platoons "will arrive in Season 5 Phase 3 as planned." That October 21 community update now opens with a note saying it went live before the delay was announced, which says a lot about how late the call came.
Are Battlefield 6 Platoons delayed?
Yes. Battlefield 6 won't get Platoons on December 8, and there is no new date. The statement, posted by Battlefield Comms on X on November 5 and in full on the EA Forums, says the team "determined that the B-81 Cavalry and our Platoons feature are not ready for deployment as they do not meet our internal quality standards." EA says it is delaying both "so we can focus on delivering the vision we have for them."

The only timing EA offers is that it will "have more to tell you about our wider plans for 2027 shortly after the holidays." Its October 21 update listed Phase 3 as the last Battlefield 6 update of 2026, with Season 6 in 2027 next. So while EA hasn't put it in those words, there is nothing left on the 2026 schedule for Platoons to slot into.
What were Platoons going to include?
Platoons are Battlefield 6's planned clan feature: a named group of up to 100 players with its own tag. EA's June 4 community update promised that players could create or join a Platoon, party up with other members, show their Platoon tag, and choose join settings, with leadership tools to manage membership. Playing with fellow members was set to earn an XP bonus.
The October 21 post added detail: a dedicated Platoons tab in the main menu, custom group names and squad tags, combined gameplay stats for the group, and an XP bonus whenever Platoon members share your squad. In the same post's Discord Q&A, the developers said each Platoon would have a name, tag and description, with management and hierarchy handled through the EA Connect interface in-game. EA called this first version "a foundational step." Nothing in the delay notice says those plans changed.
What is the B-81 Cavalry?
It's a new piece of hardware that EA listed for the December 8 update, and that's nearly all EA has said about it. The Season 5 roadmap from October 9 named Phase 3 the Frozen Aces Update and said "new weapons, gear, and the B-81 Cavalry further expand the sandbox." EA hasn't published stats, seats or a role for it, and the delay notice doesn't describe it either.
Is the Server Browser still coming?
Yes, and sooner than planned. A November 3 community update moved it out of Phase 3: a limited public scale test starts shortly after Phase 2 launches on November 10, followed by a full global launch once EA has checked server loads, queues and backfill. EA is aiming to get through both stages "over the course of a couple weeks," but says the timing depends on live testing.
The browser sits first in the Quickplay row. Servers in the Official tab, run by Battlefield Studios or hosted by players on official templates, give full XP, weapon mastery and challenge progression, and matchmaking backfills them (player-hosted ones when they run active rotation modes). Persistent lobbies keep your squad on the same server between rounds.

What's still in Season 5 Phase 2 and Phase 3?
Phase 2 arrives on November 10 with European Casino, a new infantry-only map set on the Las Vegas Strip, plus the Casino Heist event and Multiplayer Leaderboards, per EA's November 2 update. It also adds the NSW4 Carbine, a Signal Jammer gadget, the M142 MRAS truck and a round of weapon changes.

| Update | Date | What EA lists now |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 2 (Casino Heist) | November 10, 2026 | European Casino map, Casino Heist event, Multiplayer Leaderboards, new hardware |
| Server Browser | Shortly after November 10 | Limited public test, then a global rollout |
| Phase 3 (Frozen Aces) | December 8, 2026 | New Operation (Operation High Roller on the October roadmap), updated Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City, winter event |
| Platoons and B-81 Cavalry | No date | Delayed; EA's 2027 plans due shortly after the holidays |

What we don't know yet
- A new release window for Platoons or the B-81 Cavalry.
- Whether Platoons will launch with the same features EA described in October.
- The exact date the Server Browser reaches all players.
