- Publisher notices (Activision, EA, 2K, Bandai Namco, Amazon and others); the Warzone date and a few offline details are attributed to the named outlet
Microsoft doesn't keep a public list of Xbox games losing their servers. Publishers announce closures one at a time, on support pages, Steam news posts and X. EA and 2K are the exceptions: both maintain running shutdown tables. This guide pulls every Xbox closure into one place and links each date to the notice it came from. It's current as of November 2, 2026.
Which Xbox games are shutting down next?
Call of Duty: Warzone stops working on Xbox One on November 6, 2026, the day Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 begins. Activision's Warzone Platform Update ties the end to that season: at Season 1, "Call of Duty: Warzone will no longer be available to play on PlayStation 4 and XBOX One." The November 6 Season 1 date is reported by Pure Xbox; Activision's support page itself doesn't name a day.
The wind-down started months ago. Call of Duty: Warzone left the Xbox One store on June 4, its in-game store closed on June 25, and COD Points could only be spent until then. Nothing is lost if you move to Xbox Series X|S or PC on the same linked Activision account: Activision says "your full progression and content purchased with COD Points will carry over to any supported platform." Unspent COD Points are tied to the platform account, so Xbox One points can be redeemed on Xbox Series X|S, the current console in the same family. Activision also notes that every other Call of Duty game released on Xbox One stays playable.

Synduality: Echo of Ada is not shutting down in December, despite how some roundups frame it. Bandai Namco's end-of-service notice stops sales of the paid SYN COINS currency and other items at 00:00 JST on December 18, 2026 (15:00 UTC on December 17, our conversion). Coins bought before then still work until they expire, which is 150 days after activation, and Bandai Namco says it will not refund unused paid coins. The online service itself ends "after May 2027", with the exact end date due to be announced around March 2027.
After that, Synduality: Echo of Ada becomes an offline PvE extraction shooter rather than disappearing, and Bandai Namco's offline version FAQ says owners get that version as a free update. Bandai Namco says current owners "can continue to enjoy playing even after the online service ends", and that some save data and designated purchased items can be moved to the offline version, with the save transfer scheduled to open in December 2026.

NBA 2K25 loses its online modes on December 31, 2026. 2K's NBA 2K25: Server Sunset notice says that "as of January 1, 2027, you'll no longer be able to play multiplayer games or access any online game modes." That takes MyCAREER and MyTEAM with it, and Virtual Currency can no longer be earned. Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyWNBA keep working offline. NBA 2K25 already left digital stores on October 30, 2026, but owners can still redownload it.

The Street Outlaws games are a delisting, not a server closure. GameMill Entertainment's Steam notices for Street Outlaws: The List and Street Outlaws 2: Winner Takes All say each is leaving Steam at the end of December 2026 because the licensing agreement has concluded, and that owned copies stay "fully playable". GameMill's posts only name Steam. Delisted Games reports that the change is expected to hit the Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo stores on December 31 too, and Pure Xbox lists both as leaving the Xbox Store at the end of December.
Every Xbox server closure in 2026 so far
Twenty-four closures, mode removals and support cuts hit Xbox games between January and October 2026, and seven of them took the whole game offline. "Still playable" only says yes or no where the publisher (or the named outlet) states it.
| Date (2026) | Game | What shut down | Still playable? | Notice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 12 | Anthem | Whole game, all platforms | No: EA says it was designed as online-only | EA |

| March 31 | HUMANITY | Play Stages (user-made stage sharing) only | Yes; locally saved stages stay | Enhance |
| March 31 | WWE 2K24 | All online functions, including Community Creations (delisted January 31) | Play Now, Showcase, MyRISE, MyGM, Universe | 2K |
| April 9 | King of Meat | Whole game; buyers refunded via their platform | No | King of Meat team (Steam) |
| April 16 | Fortnite Ballistic and Festival Battle Stage | Both modes removed from Fortnite | Fortnite, Festival Main Stage and Jam Stage continue | Epic |
| June 1 | Rec Room | Whole game, all platforms (noon PT) | No | Rec Room (Steam) |

| July 13 | Madden NFL 23 | Online services | Offline modes, per Game Rant | EA shutdown list |
| July 20 | New World: Aeternum | All in-game purchases end, no refunds for Marks of Fortune | Yes, until January 31, 2027 | Amazon Games |
| August 20 | NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 | Online servers (delisted February 20) | Exhibition, 3pt Contest, NBA Season, Court Editor | 2K status page |
| August 20 | WWE 2K Battlegrounds | Multiplayer servers (delisted February 20) | Campaign, Exhibition Matches | 2K (Steam page), status page |
| August 25 | Warface: Clutch (consoles) | Whole game | No | MY.GAMES (game page) |
| August 31 | NHL 22 and NHL 23 | Online services | Offline features, per Men's Journal | EA shutdown list |
| September 3 | Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and EMPULSE | Dedicated servers and matchmaking; moved to peer-to-peer | Yes: players host matches via a server browser | 1047 Games (Steam) |
| September 7 | Hawked (consoles) | Whole game | No | MY.GAMES (Steam) |
| September 11 | GRID Legends (consoles) | Cross-play, online multiplayer, Quick Race, Dynamic Events, leaderboards | Story and offline racing | EA (PlayStation Store notice) |
| September 28 | Sociable Soccer 25 | All online features; Career Mode becomes inaccessible | Local offline modes, 80+ leagues and cups | Tower Studios |
| October 1 | Rocket Racing | Mode removed from Fortnite; Rocket Racing UEFN islands unpublished | Customized cars stay usable in Fortnite | Epic |
A few details the short lists miss. Some roundups put Rec Room's Xbox closure on June 8, but the developer's own notice says June 1 at noon Pacific on every platform. GRID Legends, Hawked and Warface: Clutch lost their servers on consoles only; the GRID Legends wording above comes from EA's PlayStation Store notice, and EA's shutdown list names Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on the same date. The Battlefield Hardline closure also skipped PC, where EA says online services continue. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, which some lists include, only lost its PS3 servers: the official Plants vs. Zombies account says the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions remain fully playable.
EA's list gives only a date and platforms for NBA Live 19, Madden NFL 23 and NHL 22 and 23, so the offline notes for Madden and NHL come from Game Rant and Men's Journal respectively, and nothing official says whether NBA Live 19 still runs offline. For Project CARS 3, Bandai Namco's notice promised owned copies stay downloadable; The Escapist reported the offline modes survive.
Which Xbox games are shutting down in 2027?
New World: Aeternum is the first full shutdown of 2027, on January 31, and Amazon says that after that date "players will no longer be able to access New World: Aeternum on any platform." 2K's Online Services Status page already lists several more, with the caveat that "these dates may be extended or brought forward."
| Date | Game | What ends | Still playable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 31, 2027 | New World: Aeternum | Whole game, all platforms (delisted January 15, 2026) | No |
| March 12, 2027 | PGA TOUR 2K23 | Online services | Local Match, Training Center |
| March 31, 2027 | WWE 2K25 (Xbox, PlayStation, Steam) | Online services | Play Now, Showcase, MyRISE, MyGM, Universe |
| April 26, 2027 | Madden NFL 24 | Online services and product support | Offline modes, per EA's forum post as quoted by Delisted Games |
| May 31, 2027 | LEGO 2K Drive | Online services | Story Mode, local split-screen multiplayer |
| After May 2027 | Synduality: Echo of Ada | Online service; becomes an offline-only game | Yes, via a free offline version |
| December 31, 2027 | TopSpin 2K25 and NBA 2K26 | Online services | TopSpin: Academy and Exhibition |
The Madden NFL 24 date isn't on EA's shutdown list yet. Delisted Games quotes an EA Forums post saying online services retire on April 26, 2027 and that offline modes stay playable on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
What happens to your games and purchases when servers shut down?
Buying an Xbox game gets you a license, and Microsoft's terms promise little beyond that. Its Usage Rules for Digital Goods, which cover Xbox consoles, say "all Digital Goods are licensed, not sold" and that Microsoft "may stop distributing any Digital Good" at any time. The Microsoft Services Agreement adds that, except where law requires it, Microsoft has "no obligation to provide a re-download or replacement" of purchased digital goods.
In practice, the re-download promises come from publishers. 2K says NBA 2K25 owners can redownload it after delisting, Amazon says New World buyers can reinstall it until the servers go, GameMill says Street Outlaws copies stay in your library, and Bandai Namco said the same of Project CARS 3.
Virtual currency is where owners lose money. Bandai Namco won't refund unused SYN COINS, Amazon won't refund Marks of Fortune, and Anthem's premium currency could only be spent until the servers closed. There are exceptions: King of Meat buyers got full refunds through their platform, Rec Room refunded the unused part of multi-month RR+ subscriptions, and MY.GAMES pointed Warface: Clutch and Hawked players to their platform's refund policy. Warzone is the gentlest case, because COD Points and progress move to Xbox Series X|S with the account.
Microsoft hasn't published guidance on achievements after a server closure, and its achievements troubleshooting page only says the console must be connected to the Xbox network, which is separate from a game's own servers.
Does Xbox publish its own list of server shutdowns?
No. There's no official Xbox page listing games whose servers are closing, so the closest things to a master list are the publishers' own tables. EA keeps an online service shutdown list split alphabetically across three pages, and 2K maintains its Online Services Status page with end dates and the offline modes that remain. Everyone else announces on their own channels: Activision on its support site, Bandai Namco and Amazon on their news pages, and smaller studios usually on Steam.
What we don't know yet
- The exact day Synduality: Echo of Ada's online service ends; Bandai Namco plans to announce it around March 2027.
- Whether GameMill will confirm the Street Outlaws delisting date for the Xbox Store itself; its notices only name Steam.
- Whether more closures land before the end of 2026. Pure Xbox points out that announcements like these can spring up at the last minute, and none beyond those listed here has been confirmed.
