Ranked 3.0 has been live since Operation System Override launched on 2 June 2026. It removed hidden MMR, so the Rank Points you can see are the rank the matchmaker uses. Each season starts with five placement matches, squads are limited by how far apart your ranks are, and a separate rewards track pays out for playing whether you win or lose.
Siege has changed its ranked system twice in living memory, which is most of why the answers you find for this question contradict each other. Ranked 2.0 tied your rank to a hidden MMR: a number you could not see, moving separately from the rank badge you could. Ranked 3.0 removed that layer.
Ubisoft's own framing when announcing it was blunt: "No hidden MMR, seasonal placement matches, and clearer Ranked progression are coming: in Ranked 3.0, your skill is your rank."
What the system is made of
Rank Points. Your RP total is your rank. You gain or lose it on two factors: the match outcome, and the relative rank balance of the two teams. Beating a stronger team is worth more; beating a weaker one is worth less.
Placement matches. Five at the start of each season, before you are given a rank at all. They grant increased RP so you land near your previous level faster, and they are exempt from squad restrictions.
Squad restrictions. From Copper to Emerald you can queue with teammates within three full ranks of your own. Diamond and Champion players are limited to two.
The Competitive Rewards track. Separate from your rank. You earn 2 points for a win and 1 for a loss, and every 10 points unlocks something, across 150 points in total.
Champion. Now has five divisions, matching the rest of the ladder, with the leaderboard at Champion I. You cannot place directly into it.
What Ubisoft has said isn't working
This is the part the guides tend to skip. At Community Checkpoint #3 the team acknowledged two problems with its own system: placement matches "didn't feel impactful enough for many players", with adjustments planned so they carry more weight in future seasons; and rank distribution clustered too heavily in the higher ranks, which they described as not intended for the long-term experience.
Two fixes had already shipped by that point: a minimum RP gain, so progression cannot feel completely stalled, and RP fairness adjustments so players in the same match gain and lose more consistently.
One thing worth being precise about
Nearly every page answering this question states that Ranked 3.0 has exactly 40 ranks, from eight tiers of five divisions. Ubisoft states that Champion has five divisions "matching the rest of the Ranked ladder", but does not publish a total anywhere we can find. The structure is documented; the headline number is an inference, so we have not repeated it as fact.
