Phantom Blade Zero's New Date Is October 29, 2026 - and Pre-Orders Open This Summer

The studio's delay letter hits every beat of the genre: an apology for the wait, a promise of visual polish, and a vow that a deep-dive State of Play is coming - but the real news for fans is that pre-orders finally go live this summer.

Phantom Blade Zero is slipping 50 days, from September 9 to October 29, 2026. Pre-orders open this summer, and that's the part that actually matters for anyone with money ready to spend.

What ships alongside the wait

Two things are promised once pre-orders go live this summer. First, a new trailer built from what the letter calls "entirely new in-game footage." Second, a dedicated State of Play built solely around Phantom Blade Zero, a 15-to-20-minute deep dive into world, combat, exploration, and character progression, again described as mostly unseen footage. No dates yet for either.

That deep dive matters because of how little has actually been shown of the systems underneath the game's "Kungfupunk" surface. The Steam page describes over 30 weapons and more than 20 unique Phantom Edges that can be mixed and matched, plus a Souls-like hook: defeat a powerful enemy and inherit their signature technique. It's the kind of mechanical detail a 15-to-20-minute deep dive is built to actually demonstrate rather than describe.

Where the project stands

The letter recaps the road so far: first reveal in 2023, an offline hands-on demo in 2024, and three combat showcases in 2025 built around named martial arts forms - Seven-Star Sword Formation, Lion Dance, and Drunken Sword. The game plays as Soul, a warrior given sixty-six days to live, fending off assassins while unraveling a conspiracy in a setting the studio calls Phantom World.

Fan interest has tracked the delay news closely. S-GAME confirmed in a December 29, 2025 Steam post that the game passed 1,000,000 wishlists within 15 days of wishlisting opening on December 12, 2025.
