Four people at Pipeworks today also worked on the 2002 original, out of a core team of 12 back then and around 300 staff now, the studio told Nintendo Everything. The old work is still underneath: new character models are skinned onto the original skeletons with the original collision spheres on top, so, in the studio's words, "the gameplay is identical."
When does Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered unlock?
The Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered release date is Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and the two stores that publish an hour both say 2 p.m. UTC. The PlayStation Store listing shows 11/3/2026, 02:00 PM UTC, and Microsoft's store catalog gives the Xbox Series X|S version the same 14:00 UTC timestamp. Steam shows only "Planned Release Date: 3 Nov, 2026" and a countdown, and the Nintendo eShop page lists the date alone.
Atari's June 6 press release names November 3 without a time, so 2 p.m. UTC is the stores' timestamp, not a publisher-confirmed global launch. US clocks went back on Sunday, November 1, which is why the East Coast gets 9 a.m. rather than 10.
| Region | Unlock time (our conversion from 2 p.m. UTC) |
|---|---|
| US Pacific (PST) | 6 a.m., Nov 3 |
| US Mountain (MST) | 7 a.m., Nov 3 |
| US Central (CST) | 8 a.m., Nov 3 |
| US Eastern (EST) | 9 a.m., Nov 3 |
| Brazil (Brasília) | 11 a.m., Nov 3 |
| UK (GMT) | 2 p.m., Nov 3 |
| Central Europe (CET) | 3 p.m., Nov 3 |
| India (IST) | 7:30 p.m., Nov 3 |
| Perth (AWST) | 10 p.m., Nov 3 |
| Japan (JST) | 11 p.m., Nov 3 |
| Brisbane (AEST) | Midnight, Nov 4 |
| Sydney, Melbourne (AEDT) | 1 a.m., Nov 4 |
| New Zealand (NZDT) | 3 a.m., Nov 4 |
Game8, which also cites the PlayStation Store, puts the whole Australian east coast at midnight. That holds for Brisbane only: Sydney and Melbourne are on daylight saving time, so it's 1 a.m. there. All four stores list November 3, the date on our November 2026 release calendar.
Can you pre-order or pre-load it?
Only the boxed versions. On the morning of November 2, Steam said the game "is not yet available", the PlayStation Store showed a wishlist button and no price, Microsoft's catalog had no pre-order option, and Nintendo's price API still flagged the Switch 2 version as unreleased. No digital pre-order means no pre-load.
The downloads are small anyway: 3.9 GB on Switch 2 per Nintendo, a maximum of about 5.2 GB for the Xbox package in Microsoft's catalog data, and 8 GB of free space on PC per Steam. Physical pre-orders opened on atari.com on June 6: a PS5 disc at $29.99 and a Switch 2 "full cartridge" at $39.99. None of the store listings we checked mentions a pre-order bonus.
How much does it cost on each platform?
Atari's announced digital price is $29.99 everywhere, and the Nintendo eShop is the only store already showing one. Regional Switch 2 prices come from Nintendo's price API for the US listing and the European listing, which also covers Australia and New Zealand.
| Platform | Digital price on the store (Nov 2) | Boxed (Atari store) |
|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 | US $29.99 · CA$35.99 · UK £26.75 · Germany €29.99 · A$41.95 · NZ$46.49 | $39.99, full cartridge |
| PS5 | Not listed yet (Atari: $29.99) | $29.99 |
| Xbox Series X|S | Not listed yet (Atari: $29.99) | None announced |
| PC (Steam) | Not listed yet (Atari: $29.99) | None announced |
There's one edition: no store lists a deluxe version, bundle or DLC.
What does the remaster change from the 2002 original?
It rebuilds the game in Unreal Engine 5 and adds online play, a new unlock system and more single-player content, while Atari's press release promises "99% mechanical fidelity" to the original. Pipeworks made that first version for GameCube in 2002, with an Xbox release in 2003, per Wikipedia.
Online matchmaking is the headline. The PlayStation and Nintendo listings both show up to four local players and two online (PS Plus or Nintendo Switch Online required), and the Xbox page matches. Game Informer reported at the reveal that Versus and Melee modes work online and on the couch.
The eight arenas, each with day and night variations, include real-world cities, Monster Island and the alien Mothership, per the PlayStation Store, which still sells the old party trick: "Why not throw a skyscraper, instead?" Atari names Tokyo and San Francisco among the destructible cities.

Steam says monsters, locations and gallery items now unlock in any order. Pipeworks told Nintendo Everything the points system runs on "rumors" and "research projects" and that "there are no micro-transactions", though the PlayStation Store's ESRB box still carries the standard In-Game Purchases notice. Steam also lists extra single-player campaigns for each kaiju, and the studio named three more additions: a Director Mode for free-camera shots, a Practice island, and character levelling that only applies in single-player.
On Switch 2, the controls were built around single Joy-Con play so local multiplayer needs no extra purchases, Pipeworks said. Only that version is on the eShop. Atari's June release mentioned Nintendo Switch too, but in October Atari told Nintendo Everything that retail demand "has so far dictated a Switch 2 release" and a Switch 1 version "is possible".
Which kaiju are in the roster?
Twelve, per the Steam page. Kaiju United, going through Atari's roster trailer, names Heisei Godzilla, Godzilla 2000, Anguirus, Megalon, Gigan, Rodan, King Ghidorah, Mecha-King Ghidorah, Destoroyah, Kiryu (the Xbox version's Mechagodzilla 3), Orga and the Showa-era Mechagodzilla. Against the 2003 Xbox roster listed on Wikipedia, that's one swap: Mechagodzilla 2 is out and the original Mechagodzilla is in, the "fan-favorite" Atari singled out in its announcement.

The Steam demo, which ran until October 27, offered three of them (Godzilla, Gigan and King Ghidorah) plus Destruction Mode, per Atari's Steam announcement.
What are the PC requirements?
A GTX 1650 and 16 GB of RAM get you in; Steam's recommended spec asks for a GTX 1070 or 1080, 32 GB of RAM and Windows 11. That's a lot of memory for a 2002 brawler, even rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 32 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1650 (4 GB) | NVIDIA GTX 1070 / GTX 1080 (8 GB) |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
| Storage | 8 GB | 8 GB |
What we don't know yet
- Whether Steam and Switch 2 unlock at the same 2 p.m. UTC as the PlayStation and Xbox listings.
- Whether online play is cross-platform. Game8 says it is; no store listing or Atari release we read mentions it.
- When reviews land. We found only previews on November 2.
- PlayStation, Xbox and Steam prices outside Atari's US figure.
