The EXODUS Encyclopedia went on sale August 19 as a 296-page hardcover stuffed with species profiles and stat blocks for bioengineered Changelings, Awakened animals, sentient war machines, and the ancient Celestial and Remnant factions of the Centauri Cluster. By the time the studio's support site was updated in December, both it and its predecessor volume, the EXODUS Traveler's Handbook, were listed as sold out, with no reprint date attached to either.
That's a notable outcome for a book that isn't the video game. EXODUS itself, the sci-fi RPG from Archetype Entertainment being published by Wizards of the Coast, remains pre-release with a 2027 launch window. Both the Encyclopedia and Handbook are tabletop RPG sourcebooks meant to run standalone campaigns in the game's setting years before the game ships, and the demand for them suggests publishers are finding that a physical rulebook can build community anticipation in ways a trailer can't.

Who's Actually Writing It
Its credits are the other reason this sold out. Written by James Ohlen, Archetype's co-founder, whose prior writing credits include Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age: Origins, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the book was co-authored with science fiction novelists Adrian Tchaikovsky and Peter F. Hamilton. Hamilton's involvement in the EXODUS universe extends past the rulebooks: the studio's site also promotes his novel-length tie-in work, including a duology finale and a newer novel, The Helium Sea. Pairing a tabletop rulebook with working genre novelists is an unusual flex for a game marketing budget, and it's part of why the Encyclopedia reads less like merchandise and more like canon.
This Line Isn't Finished
A third book, EXODUS Chronicles of Melayu, is already confirmed, with pre-orders that opened in a June 2026 community update and an October 2026 release date, plus a complimentary PDF for early orders. It's set in what the studio calls "the enigmatic Hylase star system," distinct from the Centauri Cluster material already covered. Archetype has described all three books, the Traveler's Handbook, the Encyclopedia, and Chronicles of Melayu, as designed to be used together to run full campaigns, which makes the current sellout less a one-time event and more the first gap in an ongoing release line.
