Beast of Reincarnation Locks In Its August 4th Launch Hour - Preload Is Live Now

With the countdown clock finally set and download sizes corrected, the indie action RPG's rollout offers a case study in how smaller studios manage the anxious final days before release.

Fictions spent Thursday evening fixing a bug that wasn't in the game at all: it was in the calendar. The studio's own storefront pages, including its Steam franchise and developer listings, had been showing "Aug 3, 2026" as the launch date for Beast of Reincarnation, a full day off from the date Fictions actually committed to back in February. The correction, posted July 30 at 8:45 PM GMT and credited to Fictions alongside Game Freak, locks the real unlock moment to August 4th, 2026 at 00:00 UTC, and preload is now live for anyone holding a pre-order or a key.

The discrepancy wasn't a one-off screenshot glitch. Both the game's franchise page and its developer page on Steam carried the wrong date at the time of this reporting, meaning players cross-referencing different parts of the storefront would have landed on two different launch days. That the studio felt the need to spell out an exact UTC timestamp, rather than just repost "August 4th," says something about how a single mismatched date can ripple across a dozen listings a small team doesn't fully control.

What "August 4th" actually means by region

Because a UTC midnight unlock doesn't land the same way twice around the globe, Fictions broke down when players should actually expect access: Monday evening in the Americas, overnight across Europe, Africa, West Asia, and Central Asia, and Tuesday morning for East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. It's the kind of granular scheduling note that rarely makes it into a splashy announcement trailer, but it's exactly what keeps a Discord server from lighting up with "is it out yet?" posts at the wrong hour.

Specs, corrected

The system requirements posted to the Steam page also needed a second pass. The initial minimum and recommended specs contained errors, since fixed, and Fictions added the standard caveat that internal testing can't account for every hardware configuration a player might run. It's a small note, but paired with the date mixup, it paints a picture of a studio doing last-mile logistics in public, correcting its own homework days out from launch rather than weeks.

What's actually in the box

Standard and Deluxe pre-orders are open at 54,99€, and the difference between them is more granular than the price tag suggests. Standard buyers get an alternate Brown Shiba skin for Koo and 30,000 Amber, the in-game currency. Deluxe adds a Black Shiba skin, the "Big Dipper" sword and an "Oni's Hat" cosmetic for Emma, 100,000 Amber, and a "Vegetable Seedlings" item. Fictions' support page notes the Deluxe cosmetics stay purchasable after launch, but the Standard skin is pre-order-exclusive only, a distinction worth knowing before the window closes.

A world with a timestamp of its own

Fictions' product page dates its setting in-fiction as "Japan: Year 4026," grounding the game's harsh post-apocalyptic backdrop in a specific, if distant, year. The pitch splits into two threads: "Emma and Koo's Synergy," covering the hybrid real-time and command-based combat the studio showed off in its July 14 Combat Overview Trailer, and "A Story Filled With Secrets," built around the idea that every character in the world is hiding something dangerous. Director Kota Furushima detailed more of that cast and combat design during a PC Gaming Show interview back on June 7, the same window that also revealed the Japanese voice cast.

None of that changes what's actually shipping August 4th. But it does explain why a studio this size is spending its final pre-launch days on time zones and spec sheets instead of new trailers: the game is done, and now it's a logistics problem.
